Catherine is a highly experienced corporate lawyer.  She is extremely well regarded by her clients and those who are on the opposite side of transactions with which she is involved.  The feedback from Catherine's clients indicates that she "provides a superb all-round service" and "is someone you definitely don't want on the other side".   She has been described as "awesome" and clients frequently ask how she manages to make such complicated and sometimes incomprehensible (to them) transactions look so easy.

She specialises in corporate transactions, funding, procurement and related advisory work across a wide variety of businesses.  She has particular expertise in the leisure, manufacturing and transport sectors and regularly acts for household names within these sectors.  Acknowledged as a specialist in the acquisition and disposal of businesses in the betting industry, she has acted in a number of high profile transactions in recent years.  She has also been heavily involved in numerous solvent reconstructions, the outsourcing of insurance risk functions and vehicle procurement for a household name client.

Having worked as in-house counsel before joining Trethowans, Catherine's pragmatic and commercial approach to legal issues is a key factor for many of her clients.

Examples of how Catherine has helped clients include:

• Acted as lead advisor in the acquisition of a group of international removals companies, then assisted the client to reorganise the group to separate its business operations.
• Acted as lead advisor in connection with a group reorganisation, the sale of a group company and then an associated asset acquisition.  This was an extremely complicated transaction involving companies in the telecoms industry.
• Advised long-standing client in the insurance industry in connection with a Lmulti-million outsourcing operation.  This involved complex documentation and detailed negotiations with a household name insurer, including operations both in the UK and US.
• Advised major bank on the implications of the new Companies Act on its security package and what its ongoing requirements should be.
