Suzanne is an Associate in our Family Team.  She qualified in 2003 and joined Trethowans in November 2007.  Suzanne advises individuals on all aspects of family law including divorce and separation whether of married parties or cohabitees.  Suzanne has particular expertise in the financial aspects of separation and divorce, in children matters and in domestic violence injunctions. In addition she advises on pre nups and cohabitation agreements.  Suzanne has particular interest in court advocacy.

Suzanne is a member of the national Law Society and is the Chairperson for the Bournemouth and District Law Society Careers sub-committee.  She is an active member of Resolution, an independent body that represents family lawyers, which encourages a constructive and non confrontational approach to family law matters.

Suzanne is the Chairperson of Ambassadors Breakfast networking club based in Salisbury.

EXAMPLES OF HOW SUZANNE HAS HELPED CLIENTS INCLUDE:

  • Suzanne successfully represented one mother in her application to remove her daughter from the jurisdiction to move to New Zealand.  The daughter sent a card "thank you so much for all your hardwork, it really means a lot". Suzanne also helped another mother move her children to the Caribbean.
  • She obtained an injunction and occupation order for a wife who had been the victim of husband's abusive behaviour for a number of years.
  • Suzanne ran negotiations resulting in the wife retaining the family home for herself and the children. Her client was relieved that she and the children didn't need to relocate with the associated upheavel that would have been caused at an already emotionally challenging time.

AWAY FROM THE OFFICE ...

Suzanne is a keen road cyclist. As an active member of Christchurch Bicycle Club she rides every Saturday in and around the New Forest.  Suzanne and her partner have recently purchased a tandem and their rides have now significantly increased in distance having purchased paners for overnight stays.

At the age of 18, before getting her driving licence, Suzanne gained her Private Pilots Licence.  Her wish is to fly regularly but life is often too busy.

Suzanne has recently purchased a 1970 VW campervan to enable the camping season to extend into the winter months.  She claims it is slightly more comfortable than a tent but still does not have any heating.

Suzanne enjoys long country walks (as long as they include a pub lunch).  She would love a micro pig called 'Ping'.
