Olympic Hopefuls: Joseph Coombs and Max Brick
In the run up to the London Olympics in 2012, we are proud to be sponsoring Joseph Coombs and Max Brick - two young sporting individuals who are working towards Olympic selection in 2012.
This represents a 6 year sponsorship commitment for Trethowans and the sponsorship contributes directly to help cover the costs of their training, travel and equipment costs.
Joe Coombs – Kayak Slalom Canoeist
Joe (Joseph) aged seventeen, is from Alderbury near Salisbury. He has been on the England Team for the last four years, competing in home international races against Wales and Scotland. He is ranked number fourteen in the UK Senior Men (first Junior) and in June 2008, he was crowned British Champion in his age group for the fourth year running. Joe now trains at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham and his long term aim is to become Olympic champion. His achievements include:
- Currently ranked 16th in the UK Senior Men at the end of 2008 season
- Wiltshire Young Achiever of the Year 2006
- Great Britain Under 17 and Under 18 Champion 2008
- Great Britain Under 16 Champion 2006 and 2007
- Great Britain Under 14 Champion 2005
- Member of the World Class Programme since 2004
- 15th at the 2007 Junior Pre-world Championships, 3rd Under 16
- England Junior Team member since 2004

Max Brick – Diver
Fifteen year old Max is a member of Southampton Diving Academy, based at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex. Max recently teamed up with a fellow club member at the British Elite Junior Diving Championships in Leeds to win silver medal in the 3 metre synchronised diving event. In addition, he also took the silver medal in the individual highboard event.
