Competitive pressures in the legal sector are greater than ever before as law firms find it increasingly difficult to differentiate their similar range of services and try to compete on the same things. In many cases, most appear to be broadly similar and you’d probably receive a comparable level of service. However, not all law firms are the same and we like to think that we stand out from the crowd!
At Trethowans, we recognise that when buying legal services, most people consider a combination of four factors:
- Recommendation
- Professional qualifications/knowledge
- Price
- Personality
Of these, personal recommendation is usually the most powerful factor and, in a recent survey, all of our clients were more than happy to recommend us and the majority had already done so.
That’s always pleasing to hear, but what’s the motivation behind these continued recommendations?
Legendary Client Service
We know that clients are more demanding on their legal advisors both in what they expect as part of a standard service and what they consider makes an excellent service and a fair price.
Competing on price and knowledge is no longer enough and certainly isn’t sustainable; relevant qualifications and knowledge are a given. That’s why we’re working hard to develop our own personality in all aspects of our service delivery and to ensure a positive experience for clients.
In fact, to show we’re serious about this we’ve launched an ongoing Legendary Client Service initiative that involves everyone in the firm. Legendary client service touches on every aspect of the firm’s operations - from the moment a client walks into one of our offices or telephones us, through to the quality of advice they receive or how the advice is given to them.
This means that we’ve introduced firm wide training and made changes to the way we work and will continue to do so. Training has already had a substantial and positive impact amongst clients who have, for example, commented on the increased availability of people as a result of publicising everyone's direct telephone number – and that’s just the start!
It might be a never ending quest and we won’t get it right all of the time, but legendary client service will always remain a priority.
