If you find yourself in a position where your business has experienced a drop-off in business or a change in the way you need to do business, then you may need to make redundancies.
In this situation you need to make sure you act lawfully. The law on redundancy has moved on recently, requiring employers to be more accountable for their decisions than ever.
There are also consultation requirements before making redundancies. Collective Redundancy consultation rules apply if you are proposing to dismiss more than 20 employees in a 90 day period.
We produce a regular Employment & HR newsletter called Know-How: Employment Law which is packed with useful information about latest developments in the world of Employment. Click here to be added to this or any of our mailing lists.
