Care Funding

Garden with SwingchairThe population is aging. The need for care in later life at home or in a Nursing or Residential Home is increasing year on year. How to pay for it can be a worry. The funding provided by the Government is the bare minimum required (or sometimes not enough) and millions of us do not qualify for it anyway.

What are the options to arrange for your care?
  1. A lot of people rely on family to help with physical and also sometimes financial assistance.
  2. Your own funds. You need to assess what your annual expenditure is likely to be, then the extent of your income resources and ascertain the shortfall. That is the gap which needs to be plugged.
  3. Specialised financial advice. There are investments aimed at guaranteeing care fees are funded for life.
  4. The NHS Continuing Care Funding. This funding is not means tested and is awarded on the basis of nursing need and severity of your condition.
Funding from your investments and cash. How to make it last?
  1. Insurance policies to guarantee funding for the rest of your life.
  2. DSS and NHS entitlements including the weekly Nursing Allowance.
  3. The capital disregard. What cannot be taken into account on means testing.
  4. Equity release

Trethowans can help you navigate through all these options to find the best one, or combination, for you.
