Sale and Purchase of Country Houses

Country HouseA country house is more often than not one of the largest assets that a family has.  We believe that you should receive the support to ensure that the process for a sale or purchase goes as smoothly as possible, with the minimum amount of stress.  This will ensure that all aspects of your legal ownership are protected.

We take pride in delivering a premium service for clients, especially to those who may be out of the country or travel extensively in order to prevent unnecessary delays. For example, we often put Letters of Authority in place so that a contract can be signed on behalf of a client who is based abroad.

Whilst ensuring that diligence is key to the service we provide, we specialise in transactions where speed is of the essence. This may be either to ensure that a sale is effected as quickly as possible, or to ensure compliance with a timescale that is often a condition of an accepted offer, for example to exchange contracts within 10 days.

Often the sale or purchase of a property or estate can involve related issues, such as ongoing employment of staff, tax implications, tenancies of cottages etc.  We can liaise with lawyers in related departments, so that you can access their specialist knowledge and receive the appropriate advice.
