Disciplinary procedure

There are many different occasions when you may consider disciplining an employee.

It is hugely important that you have a clear disciplinary procedure in place setting out what steps you will take and what sanctions you may impose on an employee.

You should also consider the more tricky elements of disciplinary procedures, such as how to deal with an employee who goes off sick after being invited to a disciplinary hearing, or who raises a grievance.

Provided that all the situations are covered in your disciplinary procedure, and you follow that procedure, the chances of a tribunal finding that you acted unfairly are small.

If you would like help in drafting or amending your disciplinary procedure, please contact any member of our team.
