Each year we have a number of opportunities for trainee solicitors. Our objective is to provide trainees with stimulating and challenging work with an emphasis on direct client contact and hands-on experience from an early stage. The application process for 2020 training contracts is now open.
As a trainee you will receive a comprehensive training programme which provides structured learning across different practice areas within the firm. We also offer an open and supportive working environment to encourage our trainees to reach their full potential.
The two year programme is usually divided into four 6-month placements in a range of departments across our offices in Southampton, Salisbury, and Poole. The allocation of a placement for a trainee is based on the firm's growth objectives and the requirements of the individual teams. However, we always try to accommodate our trainee's preferences wherever possible. Occasionally, there are opportunities to go on a secondment with one of our clients.
For each placement, you will be designated a supervising partner or associate who will work closely with you to ensure that you receive an extensive training programme. Trainees play an active and important role in each team. Their contribution is both recognised and appreciated.
In order to review your progress, and to provide an opportunity for feedback, you will have a review every three months with the Training Partner and/or the HR Manager.
The trainees are allocated their own social budget so that they can get together outside of the office. Previously, the trainees have organised the following events:
- cocktail making
- meals at local restaurants
- 80’s ‘party’ in Salisbury
Trainees are also involved in our charity events and coordinating Cake Bake Friday each month.
We have cricket, football and netball teams who regularly play matches against other professional organisations. Newcomers are always welcome and you do not have to be a gifted sports player to participate!
