A few words from our current Trainees
Find out why some of our existing trainees decided to join Trethowans and what they have to say about their roles:
"When I came for the Assessment Day I was really impressed that solicitors, who were not involved in the recruitment process, came to chat and meet the candidates over lunch. It was a very friendly atmosphere and a great chance to talk to people from all departments within the firm. ...
This approachable nature of people at Trethowans continued once I started my Training Contract. People at all levels have helped me learn how things are done and where things are kept. Many people are happy to help and the team atmosphere in my first seat has been great. I am currently in my first year and have so far been really pleased with my seat allocations and have had good input into where my second seat is going to be. I have enjoyed the Social Events organised from within the firm particularly the recent charity quiz. As a further point, when the heating system failed to start up last week, Cornish pasties were brought into the office to warm the staff up until the heating came back on in the afternoon. This gesture represents the good nature of the people at the top of the food chain here."
"I knew from the assessment day that Trethowans was the firm that would best suit me for my training contract....
The assessment day was a real opportunity for me to show what I had to offer the firm, but it also gave me an opportunity to get to know it, its ethos, and some of the people who worked there. It was important for me to find a firm which I would be happy in for the next two years of my working life and Trethowans have fulfilled that brief from day one.
Trethowans has a strong ethos of support and inclusivity which ensures that trainees are integrated into the fabric and workings of the firm from the day they start their training contract. We arrange and are involved in many of the sporting events, fundraising activities and social events within the firm and so we get to know most of it’s employees, which is important when you work for a larger firm where you may not get the chance to work with everyone.
The work that I have been allocated as a trainee has been fascinating and I have been able to become familiar with our clients and the work that they require us to do for them. I have attended court on my own and drafted key documents for complex and high-worth claims, which I know people in other firms would not get chance to do. Trethowans’ reputation for high quality legal services means that they attract high quality work and therefore the trainee experience is excellent."
