Each month, Trethowans holds a Cake Bake Friday when staff bake a selection of cakes which are then snapped up by staff for a donation to one of the firms two nominated charities.
In April we decided to participate in the Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Bake and donate all funds raised to this charity, which is one of Trethowans nominated charities in 2013. Specifically, the money raised will go to Tedworth House, a Help for Heroes project that is local to our Salisbury office.
Across both the Salisbury and Southampton offices, a staggering £190 was donated in return for an amazing selection of cakes to this fantastic cause.
Tedworth House Recovery Centre in Tidworth, one of a number of recovery centres supported by Help for Heroes around the UK, offers those who have suffered life changing injuries and illnesses on-going facilities and support to help them adapt to their new life. Tedworth House is open to both serving and veteran members of the Armed Forces who have suffered life-changing injuries or illness whilst in service. For those who have suffered injuries recently, the centre helps to ensure a swift return to duty or a smooth transition to civilian life.
Commenting on the Colossal Cake Bake, Suzanne Foster, a lawyer and Chair of the Charities Committee at Trethowans Solicitors said; "We have some amazingly talented bakers here at Trethowans, as the photo shows, we even had a camouflage cake! We also have two offices full of very keen cake eaters, a wonderful combination that has resulted in us raising £190 today for this very worthy cause. Tedworth House performs vital work in supporting members of the Armed Forces who have suffered life-changing injuries or illness. All the money we have raised today will go to Tedworth House which is a cause that our staff particularly wanted to support.”
