Experts come together to share divorce advice in Winchester

Free, hands-on support is being offered to Hampshire families going through divorce or separation.

Our Family law team are running a workshop at Winchester’s Hotel Du Vin on Tuesday, October 11 where a team of experts including lawyers, therapists, hypnotherapists and style coaches will come together to give delegates the tools and advice they need to get on track.

42 per cent of all marriages in the UK end in divorce and Trethowans, having guided thousands of people through the process, understands only too well how it can be a difficult time for families. Emma Wilders-Pratt, family solicitor and collaborative lawyer, says: “There are so many new changes and decisions to make during a separation that it can be hard to know which way to turn. There is a risk that you may both follow a pathway that leads to conflict, high legal costs and heartache. If you have children that adds another layer and how you move forward can determine your child’s positive or negative experience of the break-up. The right advice, therapy and support can make all the difference.”

The New Beginnings workshop will consist of two sessions, with the first covering the important topic of how to support your children during a separation. The session will be led by child mediator Ashley Palmer and family therapist Leigh Moriarty. Together, they will share practical tools for developing an effective co-parenting relationship and strategies to ensure children are supported.

In the second session Helen Johnstone, clinical hypnotherapist and Louise Hill, counsellor and coach, will focus on personal wellbeing. Their workshop will give delegates practical advice, tips and tools to help them clear their minds and focus on looking after and believing in themselves.

Trethowans’ family lawyers will also be on hand to provide advice on the legal aspect of divorce and help delegates choose the right legal process for them and their families.

The New Beginnings workshop, which is open to men and women, is free but spaces are expected to fill quickly. To reserve a space call our Winchester office on 01962 670677. The workshop runs from 9am to 2pm with a complimentary lunch.
