Trethowans Solicitors acts on the sale of builders' merchant Simmons of Stafford

The Corporate Team at Trethowans has acted on the sale of builders’ merchants Simmons of Stafford to Anglesey based builders’ merchants, Huws Gray.

Simmons of Stafford is a large family owned business which provides a full and extensive range of building materials across the Staffordshire region.

This acquisition increases the total number of Huws Gray branches to 57. So far, Huws Gray has made six acquisitions involving 12 new trading locations in 2016.

Huws Gray managing director Terry Owen said: “We’re delighted with our latest acquisition as Simmons of Stafford widens our activities in Staffordshire. It’s a fantastic fit for us in terms of location and links up our recent acquisitions of Shropshire Building Supplies and our existing Stoke and Derby branches.”

Simmons of Stafford’s former managing director Chris Simmons said: “We have been very impressed with Huws Gray’s approach and professionalism and we’re appreciative of the way their team has conducted the acquisition. I would like to thank our loyal customers for their support over the years and making Simmons the success it is today. We’re confident that Huws Gray will take the branch to the next level and we’re pleased to be leaving the company in such good hands.”

The corporate aspects of the transaction were dealt with by Mike Watson, Jamie Earley and Nicola Piper, who were supported by Tom Mitchell (Commercial Property), Kathyrn Casey Evans (Employment) and Sarah Wheadon (Regulatory and Compliance).
