We are celebrating a record number of nominations in the Solent Deals Awards after overseeing multi-million-pound deals at home and overseas.
Trethowans, which has offices in Southampton, Salisbury, Poole Winchester and a base in London, has received four shortlisting’s in this year’s awards.
Trethowans’ work on the management buyout of CT Automotive Group Limited in Hong Kong has seen it named a finalist in the Mid-Range Deal of the Year (£10m- £50m) category. Led by Lucy Grey, the corporate and banking teams advised the management team in relation to the buyout of the leading automotive interior and tooling manufacturer. The company has seen significant expansion in recent years, and has continued plans for growth under its new executive management team and ownership.
The firm also has two deals shortlisted in the Small Deal of the Year (under £10m) category of the Solent Deals Awards 2017. The first is for its work on the sale of Opus Telecom to NIX Communications. The deal, led by Nick Gent, saw Trethowans advise the shareholders on the sale of the communications provider.
The second nomination in the small deal category is for the corporate and banking team’s overseeing of the Stewart Signs Limited management buyout. The Chandler’s Ford-based signage firm has been able to put its growth plans in motion thanks to the buyout, with ambitions to double the size of the business by 2022 and create 50 new jobs.
Lucy Grey, partner and corporate lawyer at Trethowans, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have received a record number of nominations in the Solent Deals Awards this year. The breadth of the projects shortlisted – from local management buyouts here in Hampshire to international deals as far afield as Hong Kong – shows the scope of work we oversee on a daily basis.”
Trethowans has also been nominated for Law Firm of the Year for the Solent Deals Awards, which are organised by The Business Magazine. This year the judging panel assessed 519 nominations for businesses in the Solent region.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Hilton at Ageas Bowl, Southampton, on Thursday, June 15.
