Alison is a Registered Nurse who joined Trethowans Personal Injury Team in 2015 as Medical Records Nurse Assessor. This involves reviewing and collating medical records and providing concise medical chronologies and summaries for other professionals. Alison is available to provide assistance and medical advice within her own specialist field.
Alison qualified in Gloucester in 1979 working in A&E and Trauma & Orthopaedics before moving to a University Hospital in the South of England where she gained 30 years experience as a Trauma Ward Sister and then Trauma Nurse Specialist, lately in a Major Trauma Centre. She has been involved in developing and monitoring standards of care, clinical audit, morbidity and mortality review, complaint management, multiprofessional education and giving expert advice. Alison was also Advisor to the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome & Death - Seriously Injured Patient Study. Alison continues to work clinically, worldwide, with the Marine Advisory Medical & Repatriation Service.
Alison has an MSc in Trauma Practice, a Specialist Practitioner Award in Adult Trauma and an Orthopaedic Nursing Certificate. I am a member of the Royal College of Nursing, British Trauma Society and Trauma Care UK.
Away from the office...
For a number of years Alison has been a committed Trustee of 'Headway' Southampton which provides day care, rehabilition and advice to people with Acquired Brain Injury, their carers and families.
Alison enjoys travelling and is gradually working her way through a long list of 'places to see around the world,' particularly involving culinary exploration.
