Gary qualified as a solicitor in 1975, having served my articles with a large city firm, Stephenson Harwood. Gary moved to Dickinson Manser in 1976. He became HoD of the Litigation Department in 1978, a Partner in 1979 and Senior Partner in 1999. Gary retired as a Partner in 2011, since when he has continued as a Consultant.
Gary initially joined Dickinson Manser as a general Litigation Lawyer, undertaking all types of litigation. As time passed,Gary specialised in commercial work/litigation. For the last 15 years or so he has specialised in Charity/Trust work.
Gary has been actively involved in the legal profession outside of Dickinson Manser – he has been a member of the local Law Society and its various Committees, and he was President during 1998/99. From time to time, Gary has been a member of Committees of the National Law Society, and what was the Legal Aid Board.
Gary was Undersheriff of Dorset from 1988 until his retirement in 2011 and was solicitor to Poole Harbour Commissioners from 1999 to 2011. He was a Deputy District Judge from 1986 until resigning in 2002, to take on additional management responsibilities within the Firm.
Away from the office...
Gary has been actively involved in a number of local charities, including Cheshire Homes and a local Almshouse and has been a Governor of a local primary school since 1993.
