Grant qualified as a Solicitor in 1990. He joined Trethowans in March 2015 as a Partner.
Grant is an Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer with accreditations in private law, children and advanced financial provision. He trained as a Collaborative Lawyer in 2007 and an All Issues Mediator in 2010.
Grant has a wide range of experience dealing with all aspects of family law including divorce and dissolution; private law children matters (to include complex Children Act proceedings and removal from jurisdiction cases); financial cases (to include advising medium to high net worth clients; cases with trust and taxation elements, business and farming interests, pensions and foreign assets); pre-nuptial and pre-civil partnership agreements; separation agreements; cohabitation agreements and disputes and change of name deeds.
Grant appears in Chambers (2017), with one client reporting that he "... provided me with support, advice and guidance in respect of all matters, maintaining a very professional approach to his work whilst also expressing concern and sympathy in a very sensitive manner.". Grant also has attracted praise in the Legal 500 for his “client focus and professionalism”.
Grant is a member of Resolution, a national body of family lawyers committed to dealing with matters in a sensitive, constructive and cost effective way. He is a member of Hampshire Resolution regional committee and was elected as a member of Resolution’s National Committee in 2012.
Examples of how Grant has helped clients include:
-Helping a client to secure a Child Arrangements Order in long running case with a change in the arrangements enabling the child to spend significantly more time with the client in accordance with the child's wishes.
-Acting for a client in a Collaborative case with significant assets which involved accountancy and taxation issues and a referral to a family consultant to assist the couple with their communications benefiting the family as a whole.
-Assisting a number of clients in mediation to address financial and children issues arising for separation.
Away from the office...
Grant enjoys amateur dramatics and has trod the boards in a variety of roles often ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. He is involved in a range of community based activities and spends much of his leisure time out and about in the countryside.
Grant is an avid reader and enjoys the theatre and cinema. He also enjoys cooking, gardening, swimming and walking the dog. Whilst enjoyment does not come in to it he attends the gym on a regular/ semi regular basis in a bid to get fit.
