Mike is an experienced corporate lawyer having acted for a wide range of businesses, operating in a variety of sectors. Mike joined Trethowans in January 2009 after a number of years with Clarke Willmott Solicitors. Most recently he has led transactions in the IT, retail, professional services, manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

Mike specialises in acquisitions and disposals (including MBOs and MBIs), group reorganisations, joint ventures, shareholders' agreements and commercial agreements. He has given a series of seminars on the Companies Act 2006 and regularly advises on company law. He also acts for banks involved in corporate transactions including advising on loan and security documents.

Mike is the Head of the firm's Commercial Services Group which includes the Employment, Corporate & Commercial and Licensing Teams.

• Mike was one of the lead individuals on the sale of an organic baby food company. Value was added to the purchase price by pre-transaction grooming including reviewing commercial agreements, employment agreements and employment policies. Following the offer process, the transaction was completed within 4 working days of heads of agreement being agreed.
• Mike recently acted for a telecommunications company in relation to a multi-million pound, long term contract with a local authority.
• Mike acted for a leading bank on its funding of the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of an Irish company. The transaction involved liaising with a variety of firms in England and Ireland to ensure the perfection of the bank's security.
