Patrick was previously the Legal Manager in the SIPP Property Department at James Hay and returned to Trethowans as a Consultant in the Commercial Property Group in November 2004.  Although Patrick has now retired from practice as a solicitor, he continues to make his specialist knowledge available to the Group on property investments within registered pension schemes, which are regulated by complex government pension rules.

Examples of how Patrick has helped clients include:

• Patrick has advised on ways in which a proportion of a commercial property may be transferred into a pension scheme to overcome the legal limit which prevented the whole property being held by the scheme.
• He has suggested the structure for funding and acquisition of a commercial property jointly by the pension scheme and the member's business.

Away from the office...

Grand-parenting, gardening, visits to historic houses and gardens, plus some not-too-demanding country walking provide a counter-balance to the working part of my week.
