Sarah is a Trainee Solicitor and is gaining experience in four different areas of law prior to qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2018. Sarah works under the close supervision of a nominated Partner and offers clients a more cost-effective option for legal advice.
CAREER HISTORY: Sarah initially studied at Sparsholt College Hampshire from 2006 to 2009 graduating with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Equine Studies. She went on to work in the equine industry with performance horses in the field of Eventing until deciding to follow a career in law. Sarah then studied at the University of Winchester completing the GDL part time around a full time job from 2011 to 2013 and then began employment at Trethowans late 2013. On successfully securing a training contract with Trethowans, Sarah left for a year to study the LPC full time from 2015 to 2016 graduating with a distinction. She then returned to Trethowans to begin her training contract in September 2016.
AWAY FROM THE OFFICE: Away from the office, Sarah spends a lot of her time outdoors with her horses. She is a keen rider in the competitive discipline of Eventing and competes at both Affiliated and Unaffiliated events. In recent years she bought a young horse which she has broken in and produced with her trainer and they are now out competing successfully. Sarah still has regular training sessions (there is always room for improvement!) when she is not competing. She also shares this passion with her sister, so if she is not competing herself she will be out providing support to her sister by being her groom for the day. Away from the horses, Sarah also has a keen interest in all things related to food and enjoys cooking. This will normally be combined with having friends over for dinner or going out to eat, usually at a local pub near a fire place.
WHY I CHOSE TRETHOWANS: I attended quite a few networking events when I was studying the GDL and met a number of trainees and employees of Trethowans there. They always talked very highly of their firm, specifically in relation to the “hands on” training you receive as a trainee and the day-to-day working environment. Their focus on providing opportunities for their staff to progress in their current roles within the firm was an encouraging aspect.
