Sophie is a partner specialising in banking and has a range of experience across all types of finance transactions, facility agreements, security structures and complex subordination and priority arrangements. She is also experienced in managing cross department teams on projects as well as managing multi-disciplinary and/or multi-national teams of other professionals on regional, national and international projects to deliver work streams on time and within the agreed scope.
Sophie joined Trethowans in September 2015 after more than 10 years working as a key member of the banking team at Bond Dickinson LLP. Sophie acts for major UK lenders and significant corporates and key clients include Lloyds Bank Plc, Santander Plc and Post Office Limited.
Sophie has been highlighted by Chambers (2018) as a notable practitioner, leading the firm's banking department Sophie has experience in financings and regulations. According to clients Sophie is "a delight to have in any meeting," along with sources saying Sophie is "loyal, very commercial and very communicative," further noting that she "explains specifically what the risks are and what we are taking on."
Sophie has also been recommended by Legal 500 (2017) as the ‘highly commercial’ head of banking practice and ‘always makes the transactions work for all parties concerned’.
Away from the office...
Sophie enjoys most outdoor activities and is an avid sailor. If time allows she likes to head to the mountains for skiing, climbing and/or yoga. Otherwise she claims nothing beats a glass of red, roaring fire and a good book.
