Maggie was referred to me by the Operations Director of her employer. She was originally from South Africa. She crewed a yacht to the West Indies where she married a Scot and together they sailed to the UK.
Maggie obtained permission to stay here for two years but she forgot to do anything when her time expired. In the meantime she and her husband separated but he wouldn’t agree a divorce.
Maggie formed a relationship with Jenny. They’d been living together for eight months with Jenny’s two children when Maggie was arrested and bailed for being an overstayer. My brief was to work with the company and Maggie to keep her here. Maggie fell through the cracks in the regulations but I saved her through an application based on Article 8 of the European Convention of Human Rights.
