Our client was involved in a road traffic accident. The accident occurred when he was riding his motorcycle and slipped on a patch of fuel which had been leaked onto the road by a van. His motorcycle overturned and he sustained a fractured leg and a broken toe. He underwent surgery to his leg and made a good recovery from his injuries with only minor ongoing symptoms.
He worked part-time and sustained a loss of earnings as a result of being off work due to his injuries.
At the time of the accident he was under 18 years of age and classed as a minor. He therefore required a Litigation Friend to provide instructions on his behalf. Once he turned 18 years he was able to continue to provide instructions himself.
Liability was admitted and we successfully negotiated a settlement of his claim. The compensation award included reimbursing him for his loss of earnings, travelling expenses and medical expenses.
