Does my business need to be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office?

26 Feb 2020

If your business handles personal data, then you will need to pay a data protection fee to the ICO, unless your business is exempt (and most aren’t). Your business will then appear on the data protection public register.

The ICO has been chasing businesses that haven’t paid their fee. Non-compliance could mean a fine of up to £4,350.

You can pay the fee via the ICO’s website here.
