Free legal clinics to support military personnel – as heard on radio

12 Jan 2012

Trethowans have set-up a series of legal clinics to give free legal advice to members of the Armed Forces and their families.  The clinics, being held at Tidworth Leisure Centre, launched on Wednesday 30th November 2011, and will continue this year on the last Wednesday of every month from 1pm.

The clinics are a chance for military personnel to have free informal chats with Solicitors on legal issues that they may be facing.  Being a serving member in the Armed Forces, and particularly the Army, can result in a number of issues that are not such a problem for civilians.  For example, regular operational tours and detachments, whether in the UK or abroad, can cause a number of issues including putting a strain on a relationship and the need to legally empower someone to deal with financial and other affairs.  Then there are matters regarding property, pensions, Wills and unfortunate events, such as personal injuries.

Suzanne Foster, a Family Team Solicitor at Trethowans, was interviewed by Chris Sturgess of Garrison Radio about the new initiative.   Suzanne commented "We have specific experience in helping military personnel and their families.  We understand the law, and just as importantly, we understand the issues that serving member of the Armed Forces and their families can face.  We are delighted to be launching the free clinics to give any help and advice that we can."
