School children score a winner with new kit
Football-loving youngsters at Wildern School in Hedge End have started the new term with a fresh new look thanks to local solicitors Trethowans.
The law firm, which has an office in Hedge End, has donated dozens of football shirts to the school as part of its mission to complete 150 good deeds in its 150th year. As a result, both of the school’s girls’ football teams have a brand new kit for the latest season.
Mihiri Gajraj, private client associate at Trethowans, visited the school this week to hand over the shirts. She said: “Playing team sports is so important to young people’s personal development and I’m delighted to see pupils at Wildern School have so many opportunities to take part in a wide range of activities. I hope the new shirts will bring the girls’ teams renewed vigour and much luck in the next season.”
Wildern School has two girls’ football teams and the players will get their first chance to show off their new kit at the first game of the season next week.
Russell Grant, director of learning for PE at Wildern School, said: “The teams love their new shirts and we’re very grateful for the generous donation from Trethowans. Having support from local businesses in this way is so helpful and means we can put the budget originally set aside for the kit towards even more new equipment for the pupils.”
Trethowans’ mission to complete 150 good deeds in its 150th year is in full swing, with more than 100 acts of kindness in the community already achieved. Staff have done everything from giving blood to climbing mountains to help others.
