Trethowans delighted to have advised on the sale of Inspire Accountants to Azets

Mark-Nixon

Trethowans, a Bournemouth-headquartered UK Top 150 law firm, has successfully advised on the sale of Poole-based accountancy and business advisory firm Inspire Accountants to UK Top 10 accounting firm Azets.

Trethowans acted for Inspire, managing the transaction from beginning to end, handling the negotiation, undertaking due diligence, and drafting transaction documents, whilst keeping its client up to date on every aspect of the deal.

Partner Mark Nixon, supported by corporate solicitor Jason Riley and the firm’s head of employment, Kathryn Evans, led the Trethowans’ team on the sale, which strengthened Azets’ presence on the South Coast and enabled Inspire to offer an even broader set of specialist expertise to its clients as it continues its long and successful journey.

The acquisition extends Azets’ regional network to 86 offices across the UK and is its second acquisition in the past three months as the firm continues to deliver on its growth plans for the UK.

Founded in 2004, Inspire had an established market presence of nearly 1,000 clients, delivering services across Bournemouth, Poole, and the Solent region, with a team of 30 employees including three partners.

Mark Nixon, Corporate Partner and Head of Trethowans’ Bournemouth Office, said: “Warren and the team at Inspire have worked tirelessly for their clients since the business was founded and thoroughly deserve their reputation for delivering service excellence to businesses across Bournemouth, Poole and the wider Solent region.

“It has been a pleasure to work alongside them on various transactions over the years and an absolute honour and a privilege to be asked to play a very small part in their own journey. The sale to Azets represents a fantastic opportunity for the continued growth of the business and we wish them all the very best of luck”

Warren Munson, Managing Partner at Azets, said: “We have known and worked with Mark and the team at Trethowans for many years on collaborative projects for our clients, and have great respect for them as professional advisors in the regional business community.

“When it came to our own transaction, they offered us a truly personalised approach, something so important for me and my fellow directors.

“Mark’s commercial, pragmatic approach was consistent throughout the transaction, from instigation right through to its recent completion. The expertise and support of the wider Trethowans team, including Kathryn Evans, who consulted on all employment aspects of the transaction, was also greatly appreciated.

“We can’t recommend their service and approach highly enough.”

This is the latest in a long line of done deals for Trethowans, coming hot on the heels of three acquisitions for Watford-based recruiter, The MCG Group, in February, and a $1.4bn transaction in January, which saw System1 become a publicly-listed company on the New York stock exchange.
