Trethowans turns back the clock for theatre celebrations

18 Mar 2019

Trethowans is going back in time tommorow in support of Bournemouth Pavilion.

Staff from the award-winning law firm are attending the popular venue as it holds a special screening of 42nd Street to mark its 90th anniversary.

Trethowans is an official partner of Bournemouth Pavilion and its branding sits pride of place inside the 1500-seat theatre. The partnership supports the theatre’s development programme, which includes ongoing refurbishment projects, improvements and community initiatives.

Managing partner of Trethowans, Chris Whiteley, said: “We are looking forward to joining Bournemouth Pavilion for its 90th anniversary celebrations. Like us, the theatre has a long heritage in the south and it’s testament to the fantastic service that it provides day in, day out. I look forward to celebrating this exciting landmark in Bournemouth Pavilion’s history with the special screening of 42nd Street.”

The screening of the film forms one of many celebrations to mark the venue’s 90th anniversary. The hit blockbuster film will be shown in black and white and the special screening will also include a nostalgic recreation of the ‘Pavilion Municipal Orchestra’, which will play a selection of music from the 1930s. In addition, the Compton Organ will be played by star organist, Donald MacKenzie, Britain’s last full time resident Cinema Organist from London’s Leicester Square Odeon. The programme will also include some supporting films from the era courtesy of the Cinema Theatre Association.

Bournemouth Pavilion, a Grade II listed venue, opened on Tuesday 19 March 1929. It has a 1,500-seat theatre and full sized ballroom. It hosts musicals, opera, ballet, pantomime, comedy, gala dinners, banquets, receptions, fairs, dances and fashion shows throughout the year.

Trethowans’ two year supporting partnership with the venue forms part of the firm’s pledge to support local businesses, organisations and groups in the areas it works in.

Not far from Bournemouth Pavilion, the firm has offices in Bournemouth and Poole in Dorset, and recently won two Dorset Legal Awards. Trethowans also has offices in Salisbury, Winchester, Southampton and a base in London. Don’t hesitate to contact our expert team of solicitors today on 0800 2800 421, or submit an online enquiry.
