Cycling and Motorbike Accidents

If you have been injured in a motorcycle or cycling accident that was not your fault, whether you were the rider or passenger, we can help you claim for compensation.

Motorcycle Accidents

There are on average 5,000 serious motorcycle accidents per year on UK roads, and a larger number of less serious accidents. Statistics suggest that motorcyclists are around 38 times more likely to be killed than those driving a car.

Riding a motorbike on public roads alongside larger vehicles puts you at a heightened risk of an accident, so it pays to be prepared. Tragically, around 330 riders are sadly killed in the UK each year. When motorbike accidents occur, riders generally sustain much more serious injuries than a car driver would in similar circumstances, no matter how careful or skilled a motorcyclist may be.

The circumstances surrounding motorcycle accidents can often be more complex than those involving 4 wheeled vehicles. Such accidents warrant specialist expertise and management.

We specialise in motorcycle claims and have experience in dealing with all types of injuries including:

Head / brain injury
Spinal injury
Fatal accidents and inquests
Amputation
Fractures
Facial Injures
Psychological injuries
Ligament damage
Soft tissue damage

We have acted for many clients who have been involved in motorcycle accidents and, as well as compensation for the injuries, we ensure that financial losses are also included in any claim. We recognise that for many motorcyclists the machine is their pride and joy. Damage to the bike or your equipment, whether it is the helmet or the clothing you wear, can be included in the claim.

In addition, we can look to recover any loss of earnings you have sustained, your travel expenses or the cost of care and assistance you have received.

Depending on the severity of the injuries and the extent of the losses, awards can range from a few thousand pounds to several million, but in all cases, we understand that accidents can be life changing and we will work towards obtaining the best result for you.

Cycling Accidents

If you have been injured in an accident which was not your fault whilst cycling on a public road we can help you claim compensation.

There are often issues to consider which are particular to cycling accidents, such as rights of way in special cycle lanes, and any effect that failure to wear a cycle helmet or other protective clothing may have on the claim.

A driver’s motor insurance will cover claims brought by cyclists, but if the motorist is not insured or you do not know their identity, it may still be possible to bring a claim through the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB).

Cyclists are very vulnerable on the roads and have little protection if they are involved in any type of collision, especially if they are struck by a motor vehicle. In such cases the injuries sustained can be extremely serious and debilitating.

We have considerable experience in dealing with different types of injuries from soft tissue injuries through complex knee injuries and fractured limbs to catastrophic spinal and head injuries. In all cases, we understand that our clients have suffered injury and loss and we will always work to achieve the best possible results for you.
