Temporary Event Notices
A Temporary Event Notice (TEN) can allow you to provide licensable activities at a venue where there is no premises licence in place or where the existing premises licence does not permit the licensable activity or hours you may require for a one off event for up to 499 people (including staff).
The key features of a TEN are that:
- It is held by an individual (who must be 18 or over whether a or not they hold a personal licence)
- It can last no more than 7 days for one event (without a 24 hour gap between the last and next event at the same location)
- There is a limit on the number of days per year that a premises can make use of a TEN (maximum 21 days)
- The number of TENs an individual can apply for depend upon whether you are a personal licence holder
- Only the police and environmental health can object to a TEN
There are strict rules on giving notice for a TEN, which are no less than 10 working days for a standard TEN and no less than 5 working days for a late TEN.
