I am a Paralegal in the Personal Injury Team based in Salisbury. I have represented child Claimants who act through a litigation friend, usually a parent or guardian, multiple Claimants who have been involved in the same accident as well as assisted on larger non road traffic claims, for example military claims and public liability claims.
I head up the monthly Legal Clinic at Tedworth House, part of Help for Heroes, on the first Wednesday of every month and attend the Inter Agency Meetings which are held at Tedworth House on a regular basis throughout the year. The Legal Clinics are for enquiries in all areas of Law and if I am unable to assist and advise immediately, I will return to Trethowans and forward the enquiry to the appropriate Team to deal with.
It is my aim within personal injury to ensure everybody, including military personnel, is aware that most injured parties only have 3 years within which to bring a personal injury claim, either from the date the injury occurred or from the date of knowledge. The exception to this rule are children, who have until the date of their 21st birthday to bring a personal injury claim.
In addition to all of the above I started to become involved in the Spinal Injuries Association, who are one of the Personal Injuries Charites. My role within the firm and the Spinal Injuries Association is as one of their main contacts, attending to and relaying back details of any new enquiries as well as organising and heading up our annual Charity Dinner in aid of the Spinal Injuries Association.
From day one I was well informed and on a regular basis, in all a very professional and personal service, Adele was very efficient and pleasant to work with. Adele is a credit to Trethowans and would not hesitate to recommend. - Mr T
Case Study
The Claimant was travelling along a country lane when the Defendant lost control of their vehicle as they approached a bend and collided with the Claimant’s vehicle. The Defendant denied liability, but following their investigations the Police concluded the Defendant was to blame for the incident. Liability was eventually accepted.
The Claimant was initially dizzy, disorientated and in pain. He attended hospital and was later discharged. In the following days the Claimant’s symptoms worsened and he experienced shoulder; chest and back pain in addition to psychological injuries. He was placed on prescribed medication and underwent rehabilitation.
A medical report was obtained and it was concluded the Claimant had sustained a soft tissue injury to his shoulder; thoracic and lumbar spine, a broken rib and psychological injuries. Medical evidence was submitted and an offer was put forward by the Defendants. We settled the claim in the total sum of £37,600.00.
