I specialise in clinical negligence and complex personal injury claims on behalf of Claimants injured as the result of accidents or medical negligence.
I undertake a wide variety of high-value, complex clinical negligence work, including birth injury, orthopaedic, delayed diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases (including cancer), gynaecological, surgical, vascular, cardiac, ophthalmological, radiological, pharmaceutical, amputation and brain injury cases. I act for both adults and children. I have acted for clients who have been injured by negligent hospitals, doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals, with a particular interest in cerebral palsy birth injury cases. I have acted on behalf of child Claimants with cerebral palsy in cases worth several million pounds.
I also act for clients who have sustained severe injury as a result of road traffic accidents, accidents at work and other types of accidents. My clients are often suffering from devastating injuries, including head and spinal injuries.
I am a member of the Law Society’s clinical negligence accreditation scheme (since 2007) and of the Law Society’s personal injury accreditation scheme (since 2003). This demonstrates my expertise in these areas. I am also a member of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) at senior litigator level and in 2012 was also appointed to the AvMA clinical negligence panel.
Legal 500 (2018) states that Clare is ‘indomitable, very experienced, fiercely clever and realistic to boot’.
I am ranked in Band 1 of Chambers (2018), who recognise me as a notable practitioner for my strength in birth injury, cerebral palsy and failure to diagnose cases. Sources affirm that I am “very clever, hard-working and adds value.”
Excellent lawyer who ‘gives her all for her clients and leaves no stone unturned and is renowned for her comprehensive grasp on her cases.
Areas of Expertise
I acted for a Claimant who had to have his leg amputated due to the doctors’ failure to diagnose ischaemia (restricted blood flow) and refer him for treatment earlier. The Defendants disputed liability but I pursued the claim on behalf of my client through a 5 day trial at which he was successful and subsequently recovered substantial compensation for his losses.
I acted for a child Claimant who sustained injuries at birth and had cerebral palsy. It was alleged that there had been a delay by the hospital causing lack of oxygen. Compensation of a lump sum and substantial lifetime payments were recovered for the child
