I am a Partner and lead the Firm’s Corporate Team in Dorset. I have a wide range of corporate experience, including high value complicated M&A transactions, shareholders’ arrangements and investments, corporate reorganisations and share option schemes.
I joined Trethowans in December 2016 from Blake Morgan.

Advising a number of private and public companies on share/employee incentive arrangements, including EMI options.
Advising a higher education provider on a number of strategic acquisitions, including the acquisition of a specialist electronics school and a serviced office space to provide support for start-ups.
Acting for a registered charity on the acquisition of an internationally recognised awarding organisation and examination body.
Sale of local success story, iSupply Energy, to Vattenfall. This exciting cross-border transaction reported in the Financial Times provided Vattenfall with a foothold in the UK retail energy market to challenge Britain’s existing big six energy companies.
What others say
Rob Gildert, Chief Executive Officer of iSupply Energy, said, “It was a great pleasure working with Mark and the team from Trethowans. The commitment, camaraderie and support was fantastic and kept us motivated and focused through the hard miles on what became a complex transaction with a mature, much larger counterparty. The advice and guidance maximised our commercial and legal interests without compromising our relationship with our now employers.”
Away from the office
I live with my wife and daughter near Poole. I am a keen cyclist, but generally enjoy all sports including football and rugby. I have also participated in a number of sporting events for charity including a row around the Isle of Wight to raise funds for the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton General Hospital.
