Areas of Expertise
Derek dealt with the administration of an estate where the deceased’s partner threatened to bring a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 and claimed ownership of part of the deceased’s home as a result of improvements he had carried out. Derek assisted the parties in reaching an amicable settlement, which was efficient for Inheritance Tax, avoiding the need for formal proceedings that would have cost the estate tens of thousands of pounds.
Away from the office
Away from the office Derek dotes on his collie, Barley, who has over 1,000 Instagram followers and closely follows MotoGP having ridden motorcycles since he was a teenager.
