I am a Consultant with Trethowans, assisting the Licensing Team. I now specialise primarily in advising clients and drafting and making applications and appeals under the Licensing Act 2003, and assisting with enforcement issues.
I have had considerable experience of appearing on behalf of clients before Licensing sub-committees across the country, and appeals through to High Court challenges. Clients include applicants, appellants and objectors
My memberships include as a trainer with BII, and the Institute of Licensing.
I am ranked Band 3 in Chambers (2022) and am a Recommended Lawyer in the Legal 500 2022 guide.
Notable Work highlights
- Since joining Trethowans, I have successfully represented Ladbrokes at a number of contested hearings. “Julia is always well prepared, composed and eloquent. Challenging objections have been overcome by her persuasive legal argument,” the client commented.
- I recently acted swiftly to be heard on an Expedited Summary Review, seeking instant closure to prevent that, and successfully concluded over 20 Licensing Act appeals without having to take the matter to final hearing.
