After qualifying in 2009, Kimberley worked at a large regional law firm for 8 years in their family team. In 2017 Kimberley joined Trethowans to launch a family team in the firm’s Dorset offices.

Kimberley is now a Partner working in the Family team, based in Dorset. She specialises in all aspects of family law and is a qualified family mediator.  Kimberley is also qualified in the Resolution Together Model meaning she can meet with couples together and advise them both: One Couple One Lawyer Divorce.


Kimberley helps clients with all aspects of family law, including divorce and dissolution, children law matters (including complex contact disputes and allegations of harm), financial cases (including cases where there are family businesses, substantial pension assets and inherited wealth), pre-nuptial agreements, separation agreements and cohabitation agreements and disputes.

In addition, Kimberley has expertise in helping people with the legal issues they should consider when embarking on assisted reproduction, including donor agreements, co-parenting agreements and surrogacy (both in the UK and abroad). She also has experience in private law adoptions, both domestic and international.

Notable work highlights

  • Assisting a wife in upholding a prenuptial agreement which the husband sought to challenge;
  • Kimberley successfully represented a husband in financial remedy proceedings whereby the wife sought to obtain a share of the husband’s pre-marital inherited assets.
  • Represented a father in Children Act proceedings after his children were unilaterally taken. Kimberley was able to prevent the mother from taking the children permanently abroad and secure an order so that the children’s care was shared between the mother and the father.
  • Kimberley has represented many parents in Children Act proceedings where serious allegations of harm have been made.
  • Supporting a family in obtaining a parental order for their baby after the baby was conceived with the assistance of a surrogate in India.
  • Helping a family to adopt their niece after her mother tragically passed away.

Away from the office

Kimberley lives in Dorset with her husband and 2 young daughters. When not at work, Kimberley loves spending time at the beach and socialising with friends and family.
