Sam qualified as a solicitor into our Corporate team in September 2018, having undertaken a two year training contract with the firm.
Sam is currently on a 6 month secondment returning to the team in March 2019.
In Sam’s previous career as a wine merchant, Sam encountered a number of people who worked at the firm. Sam also studied at university with a number of people who currently work at Trethowans. Sam was always struck by how friendly, approachable and passionate members of the firm were and relished the opportunity to work with those people. Further, Trethowans has a very strong reputation in the region and across the South of England as having expertise in a variety of areas and with a number of top-rated practitioners across a variety of teams. Sam found this inspiring and wanted to work and learn from these people, as well as wanting to work at a progressive firm constantly striving to improve and excel. Sam was also aware of the quality of training that it provides to its trainees, with trainees being given a great deal of responsibility from day one and being given the opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience. Trethowans is renowned for its training scheme and working at Trethowans provided a wonderful opportunity for Sam to start his career as a solicitor in the best possible way.
Away from the office
It goes without saying that Sam has a genuine passion in sampling and learning about wines both from the UK (where incredible sparkling wines are made) and across the world. Sam has a real interest in combining his love of wine with his growing expertise in Law and aspires to combine the two in his future career, especially in light of the growing number of wine producers in the UK.
Sam also has a keen interest in good food, which makes a perfect pairing for his passion for wine. Sam loves to cook at home and travel far and wide to try as many different cuisines as possible. To this end, Sam has enjoyed travelling to various ‘foody’ countries, his favourite of which have been Italy (particularly Bologna) and Thailand.
To complete the triumvirate and complement his interest in food and drink, Sam loves nothing more than to listen to Motown and Soul whilst rustling something delicious up in the kitchen.
