Areas of Expertise
Tom acted for a self-employed builder who sustained a catastrophic spinal cord injury (T12) in an accident at work. The Claimant was working on a chapel conversion. He fell some 12 feet through the floor of a first floor landing which had not been secured, sustaining a severe compression fracture at T12, together with associated spinal cord damage. After proceedings had been issued in the High Court the case settled prior to trial for a substantial seven figure sum of damages. The settlement agreement also provided for provisional damages in the event that his condition should deteriorate in the future.
Tom acted for a client following the death of her husband, an Army officer, in a fatal motorcycle accident. An award for loss of dependency and bereavement damages totalling in excess of £450,000 was successfully recovered. As part of the liability investigations, Tom also represented the family at Inquest.
