The Dorset Law Society have appointed Trethowans Partner, James Braund, as President of the Dorset Law Society for the coming year.

James is a Partner specialising in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence matters and is Joint Head of the firm’s Poole office, which moved to new premises at Merchants House earlier this year.

In addition to James’ appointment, Hayley Stack, Legal Executive in the Private Client team (dealing with Wills, Probate, Tax and Trust matters), joins the Dorset Law Society committee, as Events Officer

Following his appointment as President, James stated “I am very honoured to have been appointed President of the Dorset Law Society, one of the oldest local law societies in the country. I would like to express my warm thanks to Simon Lacey, who, during the Covid-19 pandemic, guided the Society through an extremely tough period.

I have practised as a solicitor in the Dorset region for many years and have, more recently, served as a Dorset Law Society committee member. I have lived in Dorset for decades and have a passion for the area.

During my tenure as President, I want to make it a priority to increase engagement with members and do as much as possible to support the legal profession within the area.”

The Dorset Law Society was established in 1835 and is the professional body representing solicitors, trainee solicitors, chartered legal executives and all lawyers working for law firms in Dorset.
