How much does it cost to go to court for a child arrangements order?

28. Finances

There is a Court fee payable on an application for a child arrangements order of £232.  This fee is payable when making the application.  However, if you are in receipt of Benefits or on a low income and have savings of less than £3000, you may be eligible to receive help with the Court fees.  This can be assessed by completing a Form EX160 at the time of making your application.

Our charges are calculated with reference to the hourly charge rates for our child law solicitors and these will be discussed with you at the outset of your case.  Just as no two families are the same, no two cases are the same and we will give you a cost estimate which takes into account the work that is likely to be required on your case.  We recognise that sometimes, cases take a route that could not have been envisaged from the outset and we therefore review the costs on a regular basis to ensure that you are kept fully up to date as to what you can expect.

In addition to solicitors’ costs, you may also need to budget for additional expenses such as barrister’s fees, expert’s fees, medical or police disclosure.  Estimates will be obtained before these expenses are incurred so that you can be satisfied these costs can be met.

Our family team offer an initial free consultation during which advice can be given as to the options available to you and the likely costs to be incurred.
