We are looking for bright, enthusiastic and ambitious individuals who can make a positive contribution to Trethowans from day one. We understand that trainees are looking for more than “just a job”, therefore we aim to provide a satisfying and rewarding career.
There are excellent prospects for career advancement within the Firm and many of our Partners, Team Leaders and Solicitors are former trainees of the Firm.
We recognise that it’s not all about work and therefore our trainees are encouraged to participate in the Firm’s many social events and activities outside of the office. Trainees often meet as a group to socialise and are allocated their own budget for nights out.
All staff of the Firm, including our trainees, receive a comprehensive benefits package; further details of which can be found here.
For further information regarding our training programme and applications process, please see below.
There’s a lot of opportunity and responsibility. People are really open and happy to help you
Our objective is to provide trainees with stimulating and challenging work with hands-on experience from the outset. Through the combination of a structured training programme and an open and supportive working environment all trainees are encouraged to reach their full potential. We expect hard work, enthusiasm and commitment; but in return offer high rewards!
The two year training programme is usually divided into four 6-month seats in a range of Teams across our Poole, Salisbury and Southampton office locations. The allocation of seats is based on the Firm’s growth objectives and the requirements of individual teams; however we always try to accommodate our trainees’ preferences wherever possible. Trainees work closely with their allocated supervisor to ensure that their training programme is both extensive and fulfilling.
We welcome applications from anyone with a strong academic standard irrespective of your background, what or where you have studied.
Once applications have closed a shortlist of candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the Training Partner, usually taking place in July each year. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend our Assessment day which usually takes place at the end of July or early August. The assessment day will include individual and group exercises and provides an opportunity to meet current trainees and other members of the Firm.
