Employment Alert – Budget – Free lateral testing available for businesses
What’s happening?
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that every business in England is now able to sign up for a free workplace coronavirus (COVID-19) testing programme. Any business wishing to do so must register by 31 March 2021.
Why is this important?
According to the gov.uk website, 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 do not have symptoms. The proposed test is said to rapidly detect these otherwise hidden cases and is therefore a very useful additional tool for tackling the virus.
If this works as expected, then this could give employers and employees more confidence to safely return to their workplaces as we ease out of lockdown.
