United Law is a regional support network created by Trethowans to support and empower independent law firms across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and West Sussex.
Membership is completely free, giving you access to professional support whenever you need it.
Why Join United Law?
Running an independent practice brings challenges — limited capacity, conflicts, or clients needing advice outside your usual expertise. United Law ensures your clients receive excellent service without affecting your relationship with them.
You can refer clients when:
- You don’t have capacity to handle the matter
- A conflict of interest prevents you from acting
- A client needs advice in an area of law you don’t specialise in
- The value of the work exceeds your Professional Indemnity Insurance cover
What You Gain as a Member
- Access to Comprehensive Legal Services – Extend your offering using Trethowans’ full range of expertise. If we can’t help, we’ll use our wider network to find the right firm.
- Protection of Your Client Relationships – All members receive a written Non‑Poaching Agreement, so you remain your client’s preferred adviser.
- Fee Shares – Eligible referrals result in a fee share of up to 7.5% for you when Trethowans undertakes the work.
- Receive Referrals – When Trethowans or other members can’t assist, referrals may be passed to you – and you retain 100% of the fees.
- Events & Training – Benefit from regular complimentary online and in person training sessions, networking events, legal updates and CPD opportunities.
