A TOP UK law firm has revealed the first behind-the-scenes look at its new 9,000 sq ft headquarters inside one of Bournemouth’s most iconic buildings, underlining its long-term commitment to the town centre.

Trethowans, a UK Top 150 Law Firm with six offices across the south, is preparing to move its 39-strong Bournemouth team into the second floor of the landmark Bobby’s building, placing the firm at the heart of the town’s ongoing transformation.

The relocation follows a period of sustained growth for the Bournemouth office, which is moving from its current base at Oxford Road less than a decade after launching its first Bournemouth operation with just two permanent staff.

With space for an additional 40 colleagues at the new office, the move gives the firm the capacity to continue regional expansion and jobs development, with ambitions to double the size of the Bournemouth team over the next few years.

Taking this step is reflective of Trethowans’ deep commitment to the Bournemouth community, confirms Mark Nixon, corporate partner and head of the Bournemouth office.

He said:

“Bournemouth is our home, so even as we outgrew our current offices, moving out of the town centre was never an option. We want to be right in the heart of the town, fully connected to the community we serve.

“We know that we can’t grow unless our community is strong, so for us this major investment is about giving back and playing a part in the regeneration of Bournemouth town centre. It’s not only the right thing for us, but hopefully it will help give other local businesses the confidence to do the same.”

Backed by recent investment from national law group Lawfront, Trethowans is investing heavily in the future-proofed workspace. The new space has been designed to support collaboration, wellbeing and client service, featuring open-plan working areas, original stripped wood floors, high ceilings and exposed features, alongside a large kitchen, wellbeing room and dedicated collaboration suites.

Added Mark:

“Bobby’s is such a landmark building and gives us a fantastic, central base. It’s a beautiful space for our team and a welcoming, accessible hub for the people and local businesses we work with every day.”

Mr Nixon, who leads the local team alongside family law specialist Kimberley Davies and commercial property partner James Kidner, welcomed a small group, including representatives from BCP Council, Bournemouth Town Centre BID and Bournemouth Rugby Club, for a behind-the-scenes look at the office space today (June 2), ahead of an opening event in July.

Trethowans’ Bournemouth team has developed strong links in the local community, with the firm sponsoring Bournemouth Rugby Club, the Pavilion, and being a Regional Partner of AFC Bournemouth. They also support local charities including Fear Free and have a team taking part in a charity abseil for Lewis-Manning Hospice this July.

One of the fastest-growing law firms in the South, with 300 staff across offices in Southampton, Winchester, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Poole and London, Trethowans was named among The Times Best Law Firms 2026.

The new Bobby’s office will provide a full service offering for both businesses and individuals. The move follows the opening of a new Winchester office in March, more than twice the size of the previous Winchester base.
