Trethowans Partner is made National Chair of Resolution

Grant Cameron-min
Grant Cameron, Partner in the Trethowans’ family law team in Southampton, has been made National Chair of Resolution.

Resolution is a membership group founded in 1982 with the aim of working constructively to resolve family law issues and provide better outcomes for separating families. It has over 6,500 professional members and 39 regional groups including solicitors, legal executives, students, judges, barristers, experts and academics.

Grant has been a member of the organisation since the early 1990s, having joined when it was formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association.  He has held various roles, including Chair of West Sussex region and subsequently a committee member of the Hampshire region. He was elected to the National Committee approximately 10 years ago and has spent the last 3 years as National Vice Chair.

Commenting on his new role, Grant said, “I am honoured to have been appointed as Chair of Resolution. I am relishing the opportunity to continue Resolution’s work in helping to influence government policy and  continue  to shape family law and practice with the aim of providing a better and more pragmatic solution for separating families as well as supporting Resolution members.

“A very responsive recent members survey has identified key areas to focus on in the immediate future:

  • Cohabitation reform
  • Greater recognition of the voice of the child
  • Early legal advice and direction to alternative forms of dispute resolution”

Grant continued, “I would encourage family justice professionals of all levels to consider joining Resolution – they provide a vital source of information, resources, contacts and support for anyone in the sector.”
