Trethowans votes to support Salisbury Hospice Charity as one of its chosen charities
Staff at Trethowans have elected Salisbury Hospice Charity as one of their chosen charities, with the firm promising to match any funds its staff raises.
Salisbury Hospice Charity is the only provider of free specialist palliative care to people in the area. It performs a vital role in the local community, offering nursing, medical care, emotional and practical support as well as complementary therapies to patients in need and their families.
As part of its commitment to CSR, Trethowans is encouraging its employees to raise money for the hospice, or indeed any other cause that is close to their hearts through initiatives such as running events, long distance cycling and skydives.
Not only will the firm match any donations raised (up to a maximum of £15,000 per year), but it will also cover entrance fees up to £75, to make it easier for staff to take part in activities and raise more funds for charity.
Louise Compton, Corporate Fundraiser from Salisbury Hospice Charity, said: “We cannot thank Trethowans enough for choosing to support Salisbury Hospice Charity. As a local service, we rely heavily on the support of our community, including generous businesses such as Trethowans. Each year, Salisbury Hospice Charity needs to raise £1.5 million to ensure that Salisbury Hospice can continue to provide vital end of life care to over 1,000 patients and their families”.
Mike Watson, Trethowans’ Managing Partner, said: “We are very keen to give back to the local communities we serve in any way that we can and are pleased to announce Salisbury Hospice Charity as one of our nominated charities.
“We ran a vote amongst all our staff and Salisbury Hospice Charity received a phenomenal amount of support from the Salisbury office. It is a charity providing vital support to the local community and one we are proud to help fundraise for. We hope the firm’s pledge to match donations and cover entrance fees will encourage even more of our people to get involved.”
In addition to Salisbury Hospice Charity, Trethowans has also elected Mountbatten Hampshire and Dorset Mind as its chosen charities in Hampshire and Dorset.
Earlier this year, members of Trethowans’ Southampton office raised £2,000 for charity Abby’s Heroes in the Southampton Marathon, and in its last financial year Trethowans donated £25,000 to charities and good causes.
