Mike has been the Managing Partner of Trethowans since April 2021, having previously led the firm’s Corporate team for over a decade. Under Mike’s leadership, the firm has continued its trajectory of strategic growth and client excellence.
Since taking on the role of Managing Partner, Mike has overseen a number of key milestones for Trethowans. These include rankings in The Times Best Law Firms in2022, 2023 and 2025, the move to new office premises in Poole and the development of high-profile partnerships, including becominga sponsor of Hampshire Cricket and the Utilita Bowl and the strategic partner for Theatre Royal Winchester.
Mike began his career as a corporate lawyer in the City of London before moving to a national law firm. He joined Trethowans in 2009.
Alongside being Managing Partner, Mike continues to be ranked as an Eminent Practitioner (Corporate) in Chambers & Partners.
Notable work highlights
- Mike has extensive experience in advising owner managed businesses as well as large plcs on the sale and purchase of businesses. By way of example, he led a team of lawyers at Trethowans on the sale of an engineering business for consideration in excess of £50million. The transaction involved a number of complex matters including different international jurisdictions, competition law and sanctions related issues.
- In addition, Mike is a trusted adviser on shareholder and joint venture arrangements as well general corporate governance / compliance related issues.
