Trethowans donates over £10,000 to their chosen charities
Trethowans has donated over £10,000 to its chosen charities as a special New Year gift.
Nominated by Trethowans’ employees, the firm nominates a charity in each of the counties it is based, Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. The charities, The Southern Spinal Injuries Trust, Abby’s Heroes and Hope for Food, have each been donated over £3,000 by the firm.
These charities receive regular support from Trethowans, which normally holds fundraising initiatives, such as cake sales and dress down days throughout the year. With many staff working from home, fundraising was slightly different in 2020, so the firm set up an online donations page for staff in lieu of the usual fundraising activities and also held a ‘virtual’ Christmas jumper day, all of which raised additional funds.
Chris Whiteley, Trethowans’ Managing Partner, said: “It has been a difficult year for everyone but charities in particular have suffered from reduced income during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are pleased to make a charitable donation of nearly £3,000 on behalf of our hardworking team to each of our chosen charities. We hope the money will help them reach their objectives in 2021 and carry on their amazing work.”
The Southern Spinal Injuries Trust (SSIT)
The SSIT is a Salisbury-based charity which helps people suffering from spinal cord injuries. By funding specialist equipment for individuals and The Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre at Salisbury District Hospital, it facilitates quality of life and independence. Frances Gillett, an Associate in Trethowans’ personal injury team, is one of the charity’s trustees.
Abby’s Heroes, is a Southampton-based charity which financially supports families who have been affected by childhood cancer, including patients of the Teenager’s & Young Adults’ cancer ward and Piam Brown children’s cancer ward at Southampton General Hospital.
Hope for Food
Hope for Food, a charity located in Bournemouth and run by volunteers, provides food, high quality clothing, household goods and bedding to homeless, poor or otherwise vulnerable people in the local community. It runs five soup kitchens per week, helping to keep those in need fed and warm all year round.
