Trethowans raises nearly £7,000 for the Spinal Injuries Association
Trethowans recently held its annual dinner and auction at the White Hart Hotel in aid of the Spinal Injuries Association, raising nearly £7,000. 100 guests attended the black-tie event.
Guests bid on donated prizes including a Manchester United VIP experience at Old Trafford, signed Everton and AFC Bournemouth football shirts, hampers filled with locally sourced produce, a SONOS sound system, golfing trip, pieces of art, an astrology reading and a giant teddy bear.
Auction items were contributed by companies and organisations affiliated or partnered with Trethowans, as well as some Trethowans’ employees themselves.
The Spinal Injuries Association, which has a UK-wide network of treatment centres including one in Salisbury, offers a comprehensive range of free services to people with spinal cord injuries (SCIs). These include SCI nurse specialists and support coordinators, counselling for those experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges and a 24-7 support line.
John Hall, Partner and Head of Trethowans’ Personal Injury team, said: “People living with SCIs tend to have weakened immune systems so when the Covid-19 pandemic broke, it became rapidly apparent they were to be among the hardest hit. They were afraid of going to hospital and had to live isolated from friends and family.
“The Spinal Injuries Association was a lifeline for these individuals, providing critical care and support services. It is a fine, noble cause and we are delighted to have raised such a large amount. I’d like to say a big thank you to all our partners, clients and employees who donated.”
