Julian is a highly skilled technology lawyer, having been involved with technology law since 1998. He was the UK technology sector head at an international law firm until January 2020 when he joined Trethowans.

Julian is recognised in the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession and in the Legal 500 as a top ranked and notable practitioner.

Julian’s main areas of practice are in information technology and e-commerce, including the development and licensing of software, outsourcing, online and cloud services. Julian also advises on data protection issues, usually relating to the use and transfer of customer data in IT implementations, and on intellectual property rights, particularly in the context of open source software and website/software development.
